    Nutritional Assessment

"Let your food be your medicine and let your medicine be your food"     Hippocrates

The basic requirement for a healthy body is food. It is the body's source of energy and building materials at the cellular level. Ironically, the role of food in health care is often neglected. At NIHA we believe that it is impossible to regain or maintain health if you are not supplying the body what it needs. Food plays a major role in the process that leads to illness and it is crucial in the journey to health.

Our goal in the nutrition program is to help you achieve your health goals by avoiding foods that cause damage and selecting nutrient-dense foods that are energizing and rebuilding and have been proven over time to be the basis of health. We believe you play a major role in your own health through what you consume daily. Whether your health goal is to lose weight, improve digestion, optimize energy, age well, strengthen your immune system, or overcome illness, you can learn to eat, drink and be healthy!

    Nutrition Tailored to You

Our nutrition experts offer help based on the wisdom of the past with practical help in the present. They help sort out confusion about which foods are healthy. Whatever your current diet, you will be assisted in "fine tuning" it to support your health. This will be done at a pace which allows you to succeed.   You will be taught not only what foods to eat and what to avoid, but also about selecting the best quality, quantity, and preparation. You will learn which foods are most nutrient dense and therefore most important.

    Continuing Nutrition Education

NIHA offers nutrition classes that address diet and health and help you make sense of the confusing and contradictory information. We have a series that explains the fascinating research of Dr. Weston Price on the traditional ancestral diet, and how to implement his findings.

    Metabolic Typing

Optimize Your Health by Customizing Your Diet

All healthy foods are not equally healthy for all people. In fact, any given food, vitamin, or mineral can have opposite effects in individuals of different metabolic types who may present with the exact same symptoms. Metabolic typing is the missing link that explains how one diet may work for your friend but not for you.

Metabolic typing is a revolutionary system for optimizing whole body health by addressing each person at a basic metabolic level. By doing a series of simple tests, a practitioner is able to determine an individual's metabolic type, which is the fundamental way in which their body produces and processes energy. With this knowledge the individual can then select the right "body fuel"-foods  and nutrients that will enable our body to function at peak efficiency.

    Nutritional Supplementation

It is now scientifically and medically recognized that even high quality balanced diets often need to be supplemented with the nutrient groups listed below. NIHA has high quality pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements to compensate for what is lacking in our modern diets.

    I. Vitamins and Minerals

II. Omega - 3 Fatty Acids and Omega -6 Fatty Acids

    III. Anti-Oxidants

    IV. Probiotics

    V. Immune Modulators
