Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening

Vizilite® Plus is a technology used by the health care provider  to assist in the early detection of oral abnormalities. Abnormal areas that might not be seen in a conventional examination are more clearly identified with Vizilite. These areas can then be evaluated and monitored. The test is quick and painless and is particularly important for patients with increased risk factors for oral cancer, such as tobacco use or excessive alcohol use.

The symptoms of oral cancer are:

• a mouth sore that does not heal
• a white or red patch of tissue
• difficulty swallowing
• a lump or mass in the mouth or neck
• hoarseness that lasts for a long period
• pain or numbness in the oral/facial region
• pain in the ear of long duration
• a change in voice
