DMPS is a simple molecule used safely in Europe for 40 years. It is used in detoxification as a chelating agent and is most effectively bound to mercury, tin, cadmium, and nickel. It is administered by I.V. or intramuscular injection and binds the heavy metal so it is excreted primarily through the kidney. It may be used as part of a medically supervised general body detoxification.
