Naturally Healthy Children

Integrative pediatric care addresses the whole child, emphasizing the interconnection between body and mind.  This holistic approach focuses on disease prevention and wellness in attempts to strengthen the body’s ability to self-heal.

At NIHA, we are proud to offer medical care for your child that is thorough and extensive.  Our pediatricians do not spend only 15 minutes with you, but provide extended visits in order to foster a long-term healthcare relationship.

Caring for the Whole Child

In assessing a patient, the integrative pediatrician will inquire not only about health history and symptoms, but will also ask about diet, exercise, stress, sleep, home and school environment, spiritual and emotional well-being.

Increasing numbers of children are suffering from chronic conditions such as asthma, allergies, ADHD, autism, diabetes and obesity. Toxicities, diet, genetics, GI issues and/or nutritional deficiencies may be underlying causes or exacerbate these conditions.

During your visit with the doctor, a plan of care will be formulated.  Every child (just like every adult) is very unique.  Sometimes lab tests will be ordered, sometimes not.  However, if lab tests are deemed necessary, we have an on-site lab conveniently located in the same building.

More Options for Healing

Your doctor’s plan of care may include a nutrition plan, other lifestyle modification recommendations, herbals, medications, or supplements.

NIHA's Holistic Integrative Pediatrician Offers:

  • Extended visits (90 minutes for initial visit, 60 minutes for follow up visits).  These visits can be for a routine well visit or particular concern.
  • Urgent/Sick visits (30 minute visits).  Telemedicine option available.
  • Vaccines.  Vaccines are available through our NIHA location.  Our pediatricians at NIHA are more than happy to review all vaccine concerns with parents.
  • Team approach to care, using a patient-centered medical home model with referrals to specialists and fellow NIHA providers to optimize your child’s overall health
  • Convenient location in Washington, D.C., with on-site garage parking and Red Line Metro access

Pediatricians at NIHA typically see children from infant to age 21. Prenatal visits are also welcome, and highly recommended.

Whether you are looking for preventive care for your child or natural healing options, an integrative approach can help your child achieve optimal wellness.
