Letter to Families from Dr. Cohen

June 1, 2020

Dear Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I will be leaving NIHA as of June 6, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, significant changes have occurred in my own home that warranted this decision.  To assure everyone, my family and I are ok.  However, the current situation has changed, and I must suspend my practice for the indefinite future.

In the meantime, I wish you all health and prosperity.  I know these are strange and crazy times, but hope you are all doing well.

I understand the difficulty with changing doctors and NIHA will support you in your decision making. Below is a list of our practitioners who may be able to address some childhood health care concerns, and although they are not pediatricians, they are committed to providing the best integrative medical care for your child.

Charlene Kannankeril, ND – Autism Spectrum Disorders, Gut issues, Allergies

Ching Voss, MD- Dr. Voss worked at Children’s Hospital and will see children age 8 and over for well or sick visits.

You may be wondering how to proceed. I encourage you to call NIHA (202-237-7000) and speak with Ashley Souverain at ext. 131, or Teresa Gallagher (202-536-8323). They will be able to answer questions or concerns you may have regarding this change. We hope that you will take this opportunity to meet our other practitioners and be cared for by one of them.

Your medical records will be maintained at NIHA. If you need copies, please contact our office to complete an “Authorization for Release of Information” form and we will transfer the records as requested.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank NIHA for introducing me to such wonderful families.  I have felt so honored to meet you and your children.  Please stay healthy!

All the best,

Rachel Cohen
